Step-by-Step Description of MBA Membership Application Process

1. Create a temporary "Registration Account"


  • Submit a User ID, Password, and valid Email Address

  • You should get a message "New Registration Account Created"

  • Below that message click the link "Login and continue application"

  • Login to the MBA site using your just-created temporary "Registration Account" login

  • You will see a "Registration Process Status" table

  • Step 1 Create a login status should be "done"





2. Click "Take Media Law Test"


  • You need to score 75% or better in order to qualify for MBA membership

  • If you are already familiar with the basics of media law you may proceed directly to the test.

  • If you need to prepare for the test there are several excellent resources available.

  • NewsU interactive, self-directed online course on media law (free, requires registration)

  • EFF Legal Guide to Bloggers, a text-based descriptions of legal issues facing bloggers (free)

  • CUNY/Baruch web site, videos and case-studies (free)





3. Pay MBA Annual Dues ($25.00 per year)


  • Click the Pay Membership Fee button to reach the "Pay Membership Dues" screen

  • Below the Current Invoice description, click on the yellow "Pay Pay Check Out" button

  • You will be taken to the MBA Invoice Page within PayPal

  • Login to make your $25.00 payment.

  • Review payment, if all is in order click the yellow "Pay Now" button

  • PayPal will confirm receipt of your payment request and redirect you back to the MBA site.





IMPORTANT: You will receive a payment notification shortly. Depending on the type of the payment you
selected this process can take from several seconds (credit card, Instant Transfer) to several days
(eCheck)



Once you have received confirmation of payment via PayPal click "continue" to return to the
Registration Process Status table (note: most users have no problem with registration but of the
small number that do report problems we have found that most reported user problems are a delay in
PayPal processing your payment. Before contacting the MBA, check the status of
your payment at PayPal.com which will indicate whether your payment went through)



4. Setup your MBA Profile


  • Once your payment has been received you can click button to set up MBA Profile

  • Fill out all the required information.

  • Agree to abide by the MBA Membership Policy.

  • Copy/Paste HTML code for MBA logo to the main index page template of your blog so the MBA logo is
    prominently displayed on your home page.
